Rich joined Guy Hurley as Vice President, shareholder, and manager of Property-Casualty Operations in early 2009 from CNA Insurance, where he served as Vice President and Branch Manager of the Michigan Region. Rich has also held various executive positions with both CNA and Fireman's Fund Insurance Companies during his 23 year insurance career. Rich holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Outside of work Richard loves to cook and eat, especially with friends and family. When not gorging on food, travel and running are his two favorite hobbies.
Enthusiastic. Presentable. Purposeful. Bold. Intelligent. Paul co-founded the agency in 2001 after spending the first 13 years of his career with Liberty Bond Services. His experience there includes managing the office in Michigan and starting up a new office in Illinois. Paul spent two years with a national broker, beginning in 1999, then joined Tom Guy in forming the agency in 2001. He has extensive knowledge of the construction industry, especially its financial components, which play a crucial role in producing and servicing contract surety business. Paul holds a B.S./B.A. degree from Central Michigan University.
Informed, Engaged, Dedicated. Bob joined the agency in early 2002. He brings considerable expertise in handling both insurance and surety bonds, including a 20-year stint producing and managing for a national broker's Michigan and California construction divisions. He has handled large multi-state insurance and surety accounts, and currently sits on the board of the Michigan Chapter, Associated General Contractors of America. Bob has written for and spoken before numerous industry groups including AGC, CFMA, MACPA, and IRMI. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan. Bob plays basketball in two Detroit Athletic Club leagues, (and hates it when people say, "Wow, you're still playing?")
Genuine. Knowledgeable. Dedicated. Mike joined Guy Hurley in 2005 following a 15-year surety company career, including ten years with Liberty Mutual Surety as Surety Manager. He became agency shareholder in 2009. Mike specializes in construction and has an extensive underwriting background. He has arranged insurance and bonding for contractors of all sizes and construction specialties, from the small local family owned business to the large, national construction firm. He is active in various associations including MITA, AGC, NASBP, MCA, WCA and MAA. Mike sits on the board of Construction Angels, a charity dedicated to the construction industry, and is active with the Surety Alliance, a peer group of surety professionals located throughout the US and the world. Mike holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Ferris State University and did graduate studies at Walsh College of Business.

Mark joined the agency in 2006 after spending 5 years with Safeco Surety (now Liberty Mutual Surety) as underwriter and territorial underwriting manager. He became a Guy Hurley shareholder in January of 2014. Mark has worked with clients of all sizes, bringing valuable experience in financial analysis to the agency, and adding property/casualty insurance as a core competency. Mark is a past officer of the Surety Association of Illinois, past board member of the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association, and a committee chair for the Greater Detroit Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). Mark holds a B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University.
Paula Tryloff, Esq.
Passionate. Intelligent. Committed. Proactive. Experienced. Paula, a licensed attorney, joined Guy Hurley in 2009 as Vice President of Claims. Paula brings over 30 years of litigation experience, including 16 years as the Managing Trial Attorney for insurer CNA's Michigan Staff Counsel Office. She is responsible for the oversight of the carrier claim handling, and litigation management on behalf of Guy Hurley clients. She has been a seminar speaker on the topic of Claims Litigation to various groups, including the Michigan Association of CPAs and the Construction Association of Michigan. Paula holds a BA degree from the University of Michigan and JD from Wayne State University Law School. She is a member of The State Bar of Michigan Insurance, Workers Compensation, Negligence, and Master Sections. She is also a licensed Property and Casualty Producer.
Resourceful. Responsible. Passionate. Persistent. Dedicated. Jay joined Guy Hurley in mid 2010, and became a shareholder in January, 2014. He brings over 25 years of experience as a commercial insurance agent, excelling at producing and servicing commercial clients in a variety of industries. He has extensive knowledge of both the real estate and automotive parts supplier business and places propertycasualty programs for several major real estate developers. Jay is a member of the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Society. He holds a B.S. degree from Central Michigan University and a Michigan insurance counselors license. Jay and his wife Julie, who are now empty nesters, reside in Farmington Hills with their dog Griffey (yes, named after Ken Griffey Jr.).
Passionate. Optimistic. Dedicated. Sincere. Charismatic. Shawn joined the Guy Hurley team in 2014 and has over 10 years of experience as an insurance agent and financial advisor. Shawn brings a comprehensive background in workers' compensation as well as property & casualty lines across all industries, with companies of all sizes. His footprint in mid-Michigan as well as the West side of the State is an important diversification for the team. Shawn holds a BA degree from Michigan State University and is an active member in the American Staffing Association (ASA), Michigan Manufacturing Association (MMA) and National Parking Association (NPA). Shawn enjoys spending time at home with his wife, daughter and twin boys. You’ll find him on the golf course or up north on the lake when the weather is nice.
Engaging. Thorough. Tactful. Inclusive. Conclusive. Jason joined the agency in 2016 to lead the charge in growing the surety and construction bond business. Jason can effectively handle the most complicated bonding issues and deliver out of the box techniques and approaches. He came to Guy Hurley after his 15-year career at Troy's Liberty Mutual Surety, where he most recently served as a bond manager. Jason is an active member of MITA and has led presentations to the community on the topic of surety. He has a Masters of Finance from Walsh College and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Minnesota. Don't let that six handicap fool you. Jason works his tail off...between rounds of golf.
Enthusiastic. Professional. Persevering. Kelly joined the agency as Vice President of Property & Casualty in 2018. Over the course of her early career she served with various insurance carriers in a commercial underwriting capacity handling accounts of all sizes in an array of industries. Kelly holds the Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation, has a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Cleary University.
Honest. Reliable. Generous. Adaptable. Unassuming. Myles joined Guy Hurley in 2017 by way of the merger with The McNeil Agency where he worked as an insurance agent since 2007. Growing up with a builder for a father he gained valuable knowledge and experience in residential construction and understands the challenges they face. Myles is an active member of CAM, Construction association of Michigan, along with multiple charitable organizations including Clarkston SCAMP where he currently sits on the Board. He has a BA in Economics from Michigan State University. This former professional golfer, now re-instated amateur, maintains a scratch handicap by playing numerous events throughout Michigan.
